Amalfi - Furore Fjord
half-day tour
Note: On August 30th 2018 the Fjord of Furore has been closed by the Coast Guard for safety reasons due to very big rocks that are falling from the mountain in it making the whole area very dangerous. See the pictures of the actual situation here.
It’s not know when the fjord will open again, and in case it will still be closed on the day of the tour for safety reasons we’ll be forced to change the very last part of the itinerary: after visiting the Ruonchetiello sea cave, instead of having the break for swimming, eating and rest at the fjord we will have it at the Saraceno beach, which is the one with the big castle in Conca Dei Marini. This beach is reachable by the sea only, not crowded at all and so perfect to have a peaceful break with a stunning view. Also, the water in front of this beach is crystal clear and so very good for snorkeling (equipment provided by us).
The Amalfi Coast is a territory as beautiful as fragile and unfortunately we can't control these kind of things, thank you for understanding.

Itinerary
Once we have put on our life jackets and adjusted the footrests on our kayaks we will be ready to set off to the west towards Furore Fjord.
For those who have never been in a kayak, there will be a short introductory lesson on how to kayak and safety at sea.
The route will take us along Amalfi’s finest beaches as well as under natural rock arches and into sea caves, giving us the opportunity to admire the old watch towers that dot the entire length of this coast.
We will pause at beaches reachable only by sea, and have time to go snorkeling or swimming in crystal-clear waters.
Just ahead of the starting point, once passed Duoglio and Santa Croce beaches, we will be able to admire and kayak under the "Arc of Lovers". This natural rock arch created millions of years ago by the erosion of the sea looks like two kissing elephants, and nowadays young couples use to get married on the top of it.
A little later we will pass near Sophia Loren villa, paddling in front of the ancient fishermen village Conca Dei Marini and see the historic hotel “Il Saraceno”.
Once past the seaside of Conca dei Marini village, we will enter its western basin where we will find and visit the little Ruonchetiello Grotto.
Finally we will reach the Furore Fjord where we will disembark for a short visit on foot in this beautiful place that is famous all over the world. It is the only natural Fjord in Italy where the annual international diving competition "MarMeeting" takes place in July. Professional divers from around the world compete by jumping from the top of the bridge which is 28 meters high.
The return trip to Amalfi will give us a different but equally remarkable view of both sea and land.
